MOVE21 at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

The Smart City Expo World Congress is a world leading event on urban innovation and the development of sustainable cities. The expo is hosted in Barcelona annually. Back in a physical format after digital presence during the pandemic, the Smart City Expo World Congress celebrated 10 years of efforts highlighting smart cities. It is a fair of digital developments and innovation, where robots and flashing electric bikes move around the walkways, and smart city developments are pitched on the stands. The expo gave MOVE21 a great opportunity to collaborate and network with partners within technological development, urban planning and digitalisation.

The day before the Expo, Innovation Norway and Cleantech Scandinavia invited MOVE21 to present the project and to frame the ensuing mobility workshop in terms of salient challenges related to urban transport at a full day Business Forum that gathered participants from The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Finland and Spain. This event offered a unique chance to connect with businesses, cities and projects working on similar topics. At the Expo, Project coordinator Tiina Ruohonen presented the project at the Nordic+ Pavilion, where she emphasised the MOVE21 integrated approach and the innovation and upscaling plans. She encouraged the audience to join project activities and welcomed everyone to have a chat with MOVE21 representatives from the City of Oslo, HafenCity University in Hamburg and MIXMOVE. How to drive innovation through international collaboration projects such as MOVE21 for 2030 climate neutrality targets in cities was also the topic of a panel debate in which the project participated during the Expo.
