Oslo is the capital city of Norway and has a population of around 700.000 inhabitants, while the functional urban area comprises 1,7 million people. Oslo is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe and a governmental centre and hub for Norwegian trade, banking, and shipping. The biggest industry sector in Oslo is the knowledge intensive business services sector. About 30% of Norwegian R&D activity takes place in Oslo, which also hosts around 80.000 students. Oslo was named European Green Capital in 2019 by the European Commission for its holistic and citizen-oriented green policies and has an ambition to become one of the first zero emission cities in the world with an aim of 95% reduction in climate emissions by 2030.

THE CITY OF MUNICH

In 2019 the City Council of Munich passed a resolution to develop an overall strategy for shared mobility and an integrated Vision Zero road safety concept. Both will be based on outcomes from on-going pilot projects in Munich and will be integrated into the Munich SUMP which will be developed starting 2020. All Living Labs will engage with Munich to develop measures for modal shifts linked to the hubs, in particular for shared mobility. In turn, Munich will explore and replicate solutions, in particular for planning and governance, that can be integrated into the Munich SUMP and related activities.

Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city with 570,000 inhabitants while 1.1 million live in the functional urban- area (Gothenburg Region/GR). The city, located on the west coast, is the industrial center of Sweden with important transport intersections. The Port of Gothenburg is an important link between the Atlantic and the Baltic Sea area and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is an important link to the world, contributing to making the Gothenburg region the leading logistics hub in Scandinavia.

RSM mission consists in planning, supervising, coordinating and controlling the processes related to private and public mobility, sustainability and cycling, freight distribution and logistics, including planning of infrastructures and services, road safety. RSM manages the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) of Rome and supervises the exploitation of ITS for mobility. Guarantees and manages the issue of access permits for parking and circulation of vehicles within the Limited Traffic Zones in Rome.

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is one of Germany’s 16 federal states and the second largest city in Germany. The Hamburg metropolitan region is home to more than five million people. Working near its busy port (3rd busiest port in Europe) has always defined Hamburg’s socio-economic environment, making it one of the industrial hotspots in Northern Europe. The revised Hamburg Climate Plan of December 2019 requires a 55% reduction in climate emissions by 2030 compared to the 1990 baseline. Hamburg has been a testbed for innovative logistics solutions to handle the sharp increase in deliveries. In the context of MOVE21, Hamburg will pilot innovative solutions for urban logistics.

Ruter is Norway’s largest Public Transport Authority (PTA) serving vast rural and urban areas within the Norwegian counties Oslo and parts of Viken. Ruter plans, coordinates, orders, and markets public transport in the two counties. Oslo includes buses, the Oslo Metro, Oslo Trams, and ferry services. All operative service is performed by various operating companies working by contract for Ruter. TOI is a national transport research center for Norway and a non-profit research foundation, established in 1986. TOI is a truly multi-disciplinary institute and employs more than 80 researchers, such as economists, engineers, sociologists, geographers, political scientists and psychologists. We carry out commissioned research for the Ministry of Transport, The Public Roads Administration, Local and Regional Administrations, The National Research Council of Norway, and various bodies of the European Commission. Transport Research Lab (TRElab) at the Roma Tre University is a cross-disciplinary group of leading academics focusing on transport research. TRElab provides data, information, and knowledge to help cities and regions define their innovative mobility policies and measures. TRElab is currently leading the Logistics Living Lab in the city of Rome.
