Oslo is the capital city of Norway and has a population of around 700.000 inhabitants, while the functional urban area comprises 1,7 million people. Oslo is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe and a governmental centre and hub for Norwegian trade, banking, and shipping. The biggest industry sector in Oslo is the knowledge intensive business services sector. About 30% of Norwegian R&D activity takes place in Oslo, which also hosts around 80.000 students. Oslo was named European Green Capital in 2019 by the European Commission for its holistic and citizen-oriented green policies and has an ambition to become one of the first zero emission cities in the world with an aim of 95% reduction in climate emissions by 2030.
In 2019 the City Council of Munich passed a resolution to develop an overall strategy for shared mobility and an integrated Vision Zero road safety concept. Both will be based on outcomes from on-going pilot projects in Munich and will be integrated into the Munich SUMP which will be developed starting 2020. All Living Labs will engage with Munich to develop measures for modal shifts linked to the hubs, in particular for shared mobility. In turn, Munich will explore and replicate solutions, in particular for planning and governance, that can be integrated into the Munich SUMP and related activities.
Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city with 570,000 inhabitants while 1.1 million live in the functional urban- area (Gothenburg Region/GR). The city, located on the west coast, is the industrial center of Sweden with important transport intersections. The Port of Gothenburg is an important link between the Atlantic and the Baltic Sea area and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is an important link to the world, contributing to making the Gothenburg region the leading logistics hub in Scandinavia.
RSM mission consists in planning, supervising, coordinating and controlling the processes related to private and public mobility, sustainability and cycling, freight distribution and logistics, including planning of infrastructures and services, road safety. RSM manages the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) of Rome and supervises the exploitation of ITS for mobility. Guarantees and manages the issue of access permits for parking and circulation of vehicles within the Limited Traffic Zones in Rome.
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is one of Germany’s 16 federal states and the second largest city in Germany. The Hamburg metropolitan region is home to more than five million people. Working near its busy port (3rd busiest port in Europe) has always defined Hamburg’s socio-economic environment, making it one of the industrial hotspots in Northern Europe. The revised Hamburg Climate Plan of December 2019 requires a 55% reduction in climate emissions by 2030 compared to the 1990 baseline. Hamburg has been a testbed for innovative logistics solutions to handle the sharp increase in deliveries. In the context of MOVE21, Hamburg will pilot innovative solutions for urban logistics.
The metropolitan City of Bologna is a local public authority with policy and institutional competence in the whole metropolitan territory. The Metropolitan City has institutional administrative, political and technical functions in strategic planning, territorial and mobility planning, mobility, transport and processing, technical and administrative assistance to local authorities and, in particular, to all the 55 Municipalities which are part of Metropolitan City.
The Volvo Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial engines. Volvo Technology is a fully owned legal entity within the functional organisation Volvo Trucks Technology with a focus on advanced technology and research in strategic areas.
Volvo is part of the Gothenburg Living Lab and will validate technology solutions.
The City of Gothenburg Parking Company is a wholly owned municipal company of the City of Gothenburg that own, build and manage parking facilities, coordinating 71 000 parking places (own, leased or through business partners). The company will, through active action in the parking business, be an actor in order to strengthen urban development and Gothenburg’s role as a regional center. The business must be conducted in accordance with the city’s parking policy and in a way that promotes long-term sustainable development.
The Renova Group is a recycling and waste management company based in Western Sweden. The company is owned by ten municipalities and aim to deliver community benefit through business activities and to actively contribute to a sustainable development within its region. The Group consists of the parent company Renova AB and subsidiary Renova Miljö AB. Renova Miljö AB operates on a competitive market and offers complete solutions in waste and recycling to businesses, municipalities and other public enterprises.

MIXMOVE AS is a Norwegian logistics software provider enabling reduction in cost and emissions for stakeholders. The MIXMOVE logistics solutions enable the best possible use of transportation fleets and assets – also facilitating sharing of resources if relevant – and ensures that transport modes are smartly used and combined.
MIXMOVE has more than 40 installations in 21 counties – used in the Netherlands for managing urban distribution since 2015 (Europe, USA, and Asia). More than 140 million parcels have so far been handled using the MIXMOVE Solutions.
DB Station&Service AG is the operating company responsible for the transportation stations within the rail network of DB Netze. Its business objective is the construction, operation, maintenance, and development of the about 5.400 stations. Within DB Station&Service AG, Smart City | DB develops sustainable logistics and mobility solutions for people living in urban areas that fit flexibly in their everyday life. They range from new utilization concepts, street furniture and urban greening, parcel pick-up stations and micro hubs to mobility stations.
Ruter is Norway’s largest Public Transport Authority (PTA) serving vast rural and urban areas within the Norwegian counties Oslo and parts of Viken. Ruter plans, coordinates, orders, and markets public transport in the two counties. Oslo includes buses, the Oslo Metro, Oslo Trams, and ferry services. All operative service is performed by various operating companies working by contract for Ruter. Ruter also holds agreements with the Norwegian State Railways concerning fares on commuter train services within the two counties.

TNO’s unique position is attributable to its versatility and capacity to integrate this knowledge. TNO consists of ten different units. The units Traffic & Transport and Strategic Analysis & Policy are involved in MOVE21.
The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), founded in 2000, is a leading Research Centre in Greece, listed among the top 20 EU institutions with the highest participation in competitive research grants. The Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) is one of CERTH’s five (5) institutes devoted to the promotion and undertaking of transport research in Greece, Europe and beyond. Its main mission is to provide state-of-the-art research to government and third party organizations and bodies and create innovation in the field of transport.
TOI is a national transport research center for Norway and a non-profit research foundation, established in 1986. TOI is a truly multi-disciplinary institute and employs more than 80 researchers, such as economists, engineers, sociologists, geographers, political scientists and psychologists. We carry out commissioned research for the Ministry of Transport, The Public Roads Administration, Local and Regional Administrations, The National Research Council of Norway, and various bodies of the European Commission. Having participated in a substantial number of projects under the Framework Programmes of the European Union, the Institute emphasizes the importance of international research cooperation in the transport area.
Transport Research Lab (TRElab) at the Roma Tre University is a cross-disciplinary group of leading academics focusing on transport research. TRElab provides data, information, and knowledge to help cities and regions define their innovative mobility policies and measures. It analyses policies acceptance and stakeholder behaviour change, to consider how users and operators would react to different types of new measures and regulation. TRElab is currently leading the Logistics Living Lab in the city of Rome.
RISE is the Swedish Research Institute and innovation partner. The 2,800 employees drive advanced research in a broad spectrum of areas unique expertise and about 100 testbeds and demonstration facilities, instrumental in future-proofing technologies, products and services. RISE has a long track record in guiding, leading and researching complex innovation processes within a variety of fields such as mobility and energy, digital innovation, including innovation challenges, innovation transformation initiatives, innovation strategy and startup collaborations. The overall aim is to contribute to a worldwide development that takes care of the great challenges for the automotive and transport sector. RISE leads applied research and innovation with the areas of socio-technical transition research, strategic foresight, policy and governance analysis, service design, urban studies and impact evaluation.
HafenCity University Hamburg is the University of Architecture and Metropolitan Development. The HCU is a university that focuses on the built environment and unites all aspects of building design, engineering and natural sciences as well as humanities and social sciences under one roof. The HCU is consistently organized on an interdisciplinary basis. One of the university’s special qualities is that all disciplines are considered in an integrated manner in research and teaching. Applied and technical knowledge, multi-perspective reflections, and design creativity are the characteristics of education at HCU.
